Coping with the change in weather
Autumn is already here, although it sure doesn’t feel like it with the 30 degrees days we’ve started this season with. The weather has finally started to cool down and we even got a bit of rain to finally kick start the season, but do you know what the change in weather means? A lot of things actually, headaches, low energy, the flu, and even joint paints (although not scientifically proven).

Here are four helpful tips to help your body transition in to the cooler months.

  1. Exercise – Squeeze in a quick run/walk before you start your day to not only wake you up but also warm up your body, just remember to dress warmly it’s extra chilly in the mornings/evenings.
  2. Layer up – Prevent yourself from catching a cold and stay warm by dressing appropriately. Wear clothes made from fabrics that provide better insulation such as synthetic & wool.
  3. Increase Vitamin D – Eat plenty of leafy green vegetables to not only boost your vitamin D levels but also reduce muscle pain, joint swelling and chances of catching the flu.
  4. Boost your immune system – Add citrus fruits, broccoli, garlic, ginger, or yoghurt in your diet during this change in weather to strengthen your immune system and even fuel your energy levels.
  5. See at Naturopath! – Naturopaths are experienced in dealing with both the prevention and cure of illness due to the cooler seasons. They will be able to give you advise on how to include nutrient rich, immune boosting foods into your diet, foods to avoid, supplements to aid your immune system and many more lifestyle improvements for you and your family.
